MEDIA RELEASE

Wednesday 13 May 2015, JAKARTA: Telkomtelstra – the joint venture between Telkom Indonesia and Telstra – today launched its suite of Network Applications and Services (NAS) or also called Managed Solutions for domestic enterprises and multinationals operating throughout Indonesia, including managed network services, professional services and a range of software as a service solutions.

Muhammad Awaluddin, Enterprise Director, Telkom Indonesia, said the country’s thriving economy presented significant opportunities for Indonesian based companies, however intensifying competition, expanding markets and evolving regulatory environments meant the right ICT solution was also increasingly critical for long-term success. “Across Indonesia, competitiveness is a boardroom agenda and recent research from IDC1 reveals 60 per cent of enterprises plan on using ICT to drive productivity gains and optimise existing business processes.”

Telkomtelstra President Director Phillip Sporton said “Telkomtelstra together with Telkom Indonesia are here to serve Indonesian enterprises and multinationals across the country and we are committed to helping them succeed in this incredibly fast-growing economy. Our managed solutions are designed to support business continuity, improve operational efficiency and productivity, and protect business information, allowing enterprises to focus more on their core business and end customers.”

According to IDC, the strategic joint venture is poised to evolve the existing enterprise landscape, lead the way in changing enterprise business models and respond to an exceedingly competitive market.

Surveys have shown a preference for enterprises to work with telecom providers as a first choice for managed services, however, the uptake has been fairly modest due to the lack of “ready providers” to feed into vertical needs.

Sudev Bangah, Country Manager, IDC Indonesia, said: “Indonesian enterprises have evolved dramatically over the past five years and the call for higher value ICT services has been made clear. In fact, our research shows that approximately two-thirds of Indonesian enterprises are planning to invest in cloud services over the coming 12 months, impressed by its ability to help lower capital outlay, increase workforce productivity and improve disaster recovery.

Mr Sporton said telkomtelstra’s integrated managed solutions would be underpinned by the strengths of both Telkom Indonesia and Telstra, which included the broadest reach of domestic connectivity along with global partnerships with leading technology providers, including Cisco.

“Unique in the Indonesian market, telkomtelstra provides an integrated end to end service by enabling Managed Solutions to be bundled with Telkom’s connectivity and sold through Telkom Indonesia and Telstra’s enterprise sales’ teams.

The joint venture was recently presented the “Telecoms Service Provider Innovation” award for most “Innovative Partnership” at IDC’s  2014 Asia Pacific Telecoms Summit held in November last year, and was selected based on its angle of “innovation”, business advantages and potential impact to customers in responding to market needs.
